Mice are usual cute little nocturnal animals between 3 and 10 inches in length and from 1/4 to 2 ounces in weigh. You can find them on almost every contiment and in almost every environment even in some cages as pets. But mice are rodents and this causes problems when they invade human spaces.
Mice reproduce in an amazing speed. A female mouse is ready to breed at an age of four to 5 weeks. The gestation periode is between 18 and 21 days. Taking in count that a female mouse can give birth to 5 – 10 litters per year and that a litter can have 5 to 10 youngs (called pups); we can estimate that every adult female mouse produces between 25 and 100 pups every year. This is normally not a problem in nature because the mouse has many enemies. Cats, dogs, foxes, birds of prey and snakes keeps the numbers of mice in balance. This is another problem if mice invate the human environments. There are no natural predetors.
Mice, that move into human spaces like farms or house can cause many problems; From damaging crops and food to spreading diseases through parasites and feces. The lack of predators and the supporting environment (good food supply and plenty of hidding spaces) allows the mice to spread even faster.
This makes it important to take care about a mice infestation as soon as it is realized.
Even so we are dealing with rodents we should consider humane ways to clean our space from the unwanted visitors. There are many Live Mouse Traps available which allow you to catch the mouse alive and release it back into nature. You also don't have to deal with the mess some other mouse traps or poison can create.
You might consider some Mouse or Rodant Repellent if you live in an environment (e.g. farm or rural area) where another infestation can be expected.
